This simple dip is made from creamy avocado blended with nutty tahini. It gets some brightness from fresh squeezed lemon juice, grassy herbaceousness from some cilantro, and earthiness from a pinch of cumin. Easy and quick to whip up in minutes in the food processor, this Tahini and Avocado dip is perfect for dipping veggies, crackers, pretzels, or chips.

Tahini and Avocado Dip

The inspiration for this Tahini and Avocado Dip came to me by accident. Well… sort of. I was in the mood for avocado toast, but I wanted something different. I have been on a bit of a tahini kick lately, so I thought, “What if I drizzle some tahini on my avocado toast?”. The result was delicious, the nutty tahini pairs with the rich and creamy avocado creating an extra rich and luxurious topping, perfect with the crunch of toasty bread. It was so good, I knew I had to recreate this flavor profile in a dip form.

For this Tahini and Avocado Dip, I blended up some tahini, avocado, and garlic in the food processor. Because I always top my avocado toast with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice (I just love the way the lemon brightens up the avocado), I added in some lemon juice as well. Finally, some cilantro and cumin to round out the flavors, and a touch of salt and olive oil complete this dip.

The result, is a super creamy and luxurious, healthy dip that is completely dairy free and vegan. I like to serve this creamy Tahini and Avocado Dip with fresh cut veggies, seed crackers, or chips.

How Do You Make Tahini Avocado Dip?

Making this Tahini and Avocado Dip is super easy and takes just a few minutes in the food processor. You will need:

  • Avocado – full of healthy fats and nutrients
  • Tahini – a nutty paste, made from ground sesame seeds
  • Lemon Juice – fresh squeeze is best!
  • Fresh cilantro – if you aren’t a fan, you can substitute another fresh herb such as basil, parsley, or even mint
  • Cumin – I love the way cumin’s earthy flavor pairs with avocado
  • Sea Salt – just a pinch
  • Olive oil – to help loosen things up
  • Everything seasoning – optional, but I love the extra punch of flavor from sprinkling everything seasoning over the top of this dip

You can serve the dip immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve. You don’t have to worry about the avocado turning brown, thanks to all of the fresh lemon juice, this dip should stay nice bright green for a couple of days stored in a tightly sealed container. If you are worried about browning, press a layer of plastic wrap directly to the top of the dip before adding the lid to keep the air from reaching the dip. Add the sprinkle of everything seasoning just before serving so that it stays a little crunchy for texture.

How Do You Serve Tahini and Avocado Dip?

This healthy avocado and tahini dip is very versatile, and pairs perfectly with a variety of dippers. For example, try:

  • Cut up veggies: Radishes, carrots, cucumber, and celery are some of my favorites
  • Crackers: I love the idea of pairing multi-seed crackers as the seeds would play up the nuttiness of the tahini
  • Chips: Use your favorite tortilla or pita chips
  • Pretzels: Thin pretzel sticks or crispy pretzel chips would pair well with this dip recipe

You can even use this dip as sandwich spread. It would be amazing in place of mayo on a BLT or turkey club sandwich, or you could even slather some on your next breakfast sandwich.
