Easy Crockpot Buffalo Chicken

This Crockpot Buffalo Chicken is super easy to make, and the shredded buffalo chicken is versatile enough for everything from buffalo chicken sandwiches to buffalo chicken mac and cheese.

Easy Crockpot Buffalo Chicken

This Crockpot Buffalo Chicken is the perfect easy go to recipe for any time you are craving buffalo chicken. Just toss a few ingredients in the slow cooker, set it to low and come back 5 hours later to perfectly cooked and seasoned buffalo chicken.

I like to shred the chicken with a couple of forks and use it in a variety of my favorite buffalo chicken dishes. Pile it high on bread or rolls to make buffalo chicken sandwiches or sliders, use it as a base for buffalo chicken dip, or even mix it into your favorite mac and cheese recipe, like I did for this buffalo chicken mac and cheese.

How Do You Make Crockpot Buffalo Chicken?

This shredded buffalo chicken could not be any easier to make in the crockpot. You just add the chicken in an even later in the crockpot, sprinkle on the seasonings, add the buffalo sauce, and cook on low for about 5 hours, until fork tender and shreds easily with a fork. Once the Crockpot Buffalo Chicken is cooked, you can remove it from the slow cooker, reserving the liquid, shred with two forks, then add back into the crockpot with liquid and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes to let the liquid soak back into the chicken. You can taste at this point, and add additional buffalo wing sauce or hot sauce if desired. I usually end up adding in a little more wing sauce and some hot sauce to kick it up.

Shredded Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Recipe

To make this shredded buffalo chicken need just a few ingredients including:

  • Chicken breasts: Make sure to use thawed chicken breasts, as cooking chicken from frozen in the crockpot can leave the chicken at unsafe temperatures for too long. I also like to check the chicken breasts and trim and fat or gristle to ensure the shredded chicken is nice and tender.
  • Buffalo wing sauce: My go to favorite sauce is Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce as pictured above. It has just the right amount of buffalo flavor and a nice vinegary kick. You can also try any other favorite buffalo wing sauce, such as Crystal Buffalo Wing Sauce, but make sure the sauce is WING sauce, not hot sauce, as just hot sauce can be to spicy.
  • Herbs and spices: To give the chicken extra flavor, I also sprinkle in a few herbs and spices. Some Crockpot Buffalo Chicken recipes call for powdered ranch mix, but in the interest of keeping the recipe natural and healthier by avoiding unnecessary add ins, I substituted some similar spices.
