Sparkling Peach Sangria

Steve and I started a new thing a couple of months back that we like to call Sangria Sundays. It basically just involves us whipping up a batch of sangria to sip on during a lazy Sunday afternoon – and this quick and easy Sparkling Peach Sangria is one of our favorite go to recipes! But with this beautiful spring weather we have been having lately, our Sangria Sundays have been taken up a notch, now frequently accompanied with lounging on the patio and grilling up something delicious to eat.

Since we were stuck at home this year for Easter, we decided to make it the ultimate Sangria Sunday, cooking up a large brunch to go with our Sparkling Peach Sangria, complete with homemade cinnamon rolls and ham and cheese frittata for two.

What is in Sparkling Peach Sangria?

This Sparkling Peach Sangria recipe really is easy and quick to throw together. Just open a couple of bottles of your favorite wine, mix in some fresh and frozen fruit, stir in a little vodka, and refrigerate until cold.

While you could add the peach sparkling water in the pitcher, I prefer to top each glass with the sparkling water individually. This keeps it more bubbly (as you will lose bubbles quickly in the pitcher). It also allows you to customize the strength and bubbliness of your drink. Want you sangria a little stronger, use less sparkling water. Want it a little weaker, add more sparkling water.

What Kind of  White Wine Should I use for Peach Sangria?

You can really use any white wine in Sparkling Peach Sangria, but I like to use one bottle of sweet Moscato and one bottle of Pinot Grigio. We prefer our sangria on the semi-sweet to sweet side, so I find this combination is just right. But if you prefer it dryer, you can use two bottles of Pinot Grigio or substitute another favorite dryer white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc or Resling. Basically, a good rule is to use a type of white wine you like to drink. However, I would avoid any dry and oaky Chardonnay as the flavors will compete with the fruit.

Do I have to Use Frozen Fruit for My Peach Sangria?

I frequently use frozen fruit for my sangria recipes because it is easy to use, affordable, I can always keep it on hand, and I find frozen fruit has the most consistency when it comes to ripeness. Plus the frozen fruit helps keep my sangria colder! However, if peaches and are in season, fresh ripe peaches would be great in this. I especially love the delicate flavor of white peaches for sangria.

For the raspberries, you can use fresh raspberries if you have them, but as I mentioned in my Raspberry Lemon Champagne Cocktail recipe, I think frozen ones give cocktails more flavor. Plus they are more affordable and easy to keep on hand.

When Can I Serve Sparkling Peach Sangria?

If you ask me, this Sparkling Peach Sangria is perfect any time of day or season! Because you can use frozen fruit, you can whip up a batch even when fresh fruit might not be in season. It is light and refreshing, making it perfect for warm spring or summer days. But we have also enjoyed a pitcher to brighten up a cold and gloomy winter afternoon as well.

This sangria recipe would be great to make for any party or get together, including a casual brunch or evening barbecue with friends or fancy Easter brunch or bridal shower. It’s also perfect to relax on any lazy weekend afternoon.
