With citrusy notes from orange and lemon and sweet, fruity strawberries, this Strawberry Orange Sangria is a refreshing and easy spring or summertime white wine cocktail, perfect for a sipping on a sunny afternoon or warm evening on the patio.
How Do I make Strawberry Orange Sangria?
This recipe is super easy to make. In fact, the hardest part is cutting up the fruit, and that only takes a few minutes, then you are on your way to enjoying this sweet and citrusy concoction.
There are just a few simple ingredients in this white wine sangria recipe, and those are:
- Fruit: For the fruit to make this Strawberry Orange Sangria pitcher, I used one orange, a lemon, and 1 cup of sliced strawberries. I prefer cara cara oranges because they are slightly sweeter (and you can’t beat that pretty pink color swirling around in the pitcher!), but any regular orange will do. I used fresh strawberries because they were in season and I had some in my fridge that needed to get used up, but you could absolutely use frozen instead. In fact, if strawberries are out of season, I recommend frozen, to ensure that sweet strawberry flavor.
- Vodka: I prefer vodka in most of my sangria recipes as I feel like it leaves a clean finish. For this recipe, I used some Strawberry Basil vodka, but any strawberry flavored vodka should do. If you aren’t a big fan of flavored vodkas, you could also substitute plain vodka as well. If you use plain vodka, I recommend topping the glasses with strawberry sparkling water instead of the tonic or club soda to give you that extra strawberry flavor.
- White Wine: I used one bottle of Moscato and one bottle of Pinot Grigio for this Strawberry Orange Sangria since we prefer our sangrias a little on the sweeter side. This combination gives a nice balance of sweetness without being overwhelmingly sweet. If you prefer your sangria a little dryer, you could use two bottles of Pinot Grigio instead. For some extra tips on choosing the best wine for your sangria recipe, see my Sparkling Peach Sangria post.
- Tonic or Club Soda: Finally, after everything is mixed up, I like to top each glass with just a little splash of tonic or club soda when serving. The bubbles add a nice sparkle to the sangria.
