This Pumpkin Citrus Moscow Mule is perfect for any fall celebration. Pumpkin Citrus Moscow Mule

Earlier this fall I bought a jar of pumpkin butter at the store with absolutely no idea what I was going to with it. Since then, it has found its way smeared on to toasted English muffins and French toast, as well as whisked into salad dressings, but my favorite application is definitely in this Pumpkin Citrus Moscow Mule.

It’s no secret that I love a good Moscow Mule when it is cold outside, and these Pumpkin Citrus Moscow Mules are one of my favorite. When made with tart lemon vodka, they have just a subtle pumpkin spice flavor and sweetness (without being too pumpkin-y), but you can definitely punch it up if you use pumpkin spice or vanilla vodka. So feel free to customize to your taste. Either way you serve it, these Pumpkin Moscow Mules are a perfect holiday cocktail for your Halloween party, Thanksgiving dinner, or any fall festivities.

How Do You Make a Pumpkin Citrus Moscow Mule?

These Pumpkin Citrus Moscow Mules are simple to make with just 5 ingredients, so they come together super quickly. Here is what you will need:

  • Vodka: The choice of vodka is up to you. I prefer lemon flavored vodka, as the tangy citrus flavor tones down the sweet pumpkin. But if you are looking for a sweeter pumpkin pie flavored cocktail, pumpkin pie spice or vanilla vodka would be delicious as well.
  • Lime & Orange Juice: Fresh squeezed juice is the way to go here, as it brings so much more flavor and brightness.
  • Pumpkin Butter: Made from pumpkin puree and other sweet and spicy ingredients like apple cider, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves, pumpkin butter is a great simple shortcut to give these Pumpkin Citrus Moscow Mules great layers of flavor. You could also substitute apple butter for a slightly different twist.
  • Ginger Beer: A staple in any Moscow mule recipe, ginger beer brings a bright, ginger flavor with a strong spicy finish. I love the way the ginger flavor pairs with the sweet pumpkin butter, bringing out the spice notes.
