Blackberry Margarita Spritzer

I love a good fruity margarita, but sometimes they can be a bit of a hassle to make, especially when you start making fancy flavored simple syrups or adding in lots of ingredients. While sometimes I feel like going all out and mixing up super fancy fruity margaritas. Sometimes I just want something simple and delicious.

In those times, this Blackberry Margarita Spritzer is just the thing. This cocktail uses the classic margarita ingredients like tequila and lime, and combines them with fizzy soda water giving the drink a nice bubbly, effervescence.

How Do You Make Blackberry Margarita Spritzers?

When I first made these Blackberry Margarita Spritzers, I was craving margaritas, but I was also looking for a drink that would be super simple and easy to make. I didn’t want to have to make a simple syrup and wait for it to cool or to have to go out and get special ingredients like triple sec, like with classic margarita recipes.

This Blackberry Margarita Spritzer cocktail is made with just four ingredients:

  • Blackberries: A couple of fresh blackberries muddled with the tequila and lime, release their flavor giving the drink a bright pink color and a great tangy, sweet tartness.
  • Lime: As always, fresh squeezed lime juice is a must in any margarita cocktail.
  • Tequila: Use your favorite tequila brand. I recommend silver or white tequila as the lighter flavor will let the blackberry flavors shine through.
  • Soda: I like to keep my Blackberry Margarita Spritzer a little tart, so I prefer using just club soda. But if you want it sweeter, you can use lemon lime soda instead. You could also add in a little agave syrup, honey, or sugar when you muddle the blackberries to sweeten it up even more.

After the first three ingredients are muddled together in a shaker, add ice and shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds. Pour the mixture over fresh ice divided between two glasses. If desired, you can pour the drink through a fine mesh strainer to remove any seeds or pulp. Top with soda and enjoy!
