Easy Candied Bacon

Just the right combination of crunchy, sweet, salty, and savory, candied bacon is like pig candy. Plus this candied bacon bakes right in the oven, making it quick and easy for your next breakfast, brunch, or even BLT sandwich.

Ingredients

  • ½ lb thick cut bacon
  • 6 tbs brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°
  • Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper for easy clean up, lay a wire baking rack over, and spray with cooking spray
  • Mix brown sugar, cayenne, and black pepper in a dish
  • Cut each strip of bacon in half and dip bacon in sugar/spice mixture coating each side lightly. You don’t want the sugar to be caked on too thick, but it should evenly coat the strip.
  • When coated, lay each strip on the prepared wire rack, making sure strips don’t overlap
  • Bake for 20 – 30 minutes to desired crispiness – keep in mind bacon will crisp up a little more while cooling
  • Let cool on rack a couple of minutes after removing from oven, and serve
